Dr. Mennat-Allah El Dorry
Biography
Mennat-Allah El Dorry is an Egyptologist, specialised in archaeobotanical analysis, her research focuses on Egyptian food history and agricultural practices. She has worked extensively on the field in Egypt, in addition to working for the Ministry of Antiquities. She is now based at Ain Shams University in Cairo, she has received fellowships in Germany, France, Poland and Egypt.
Research summary
Mennat-Allah El Dorry uses multiple datasets in her exploration of Egyptian food and agriculture history. One particular focus of her research is Egyptian foodways and plant husbandry within Egyptian monastic settings, including the production of wine in Coptic monasteries and churches.
