Dr. Pierre Purseigle
Biography
Pierre Purseigle is Reader in Modern European History at the University of Warwick. He graduated from Sciences Po Lyon and from the University of Toulouse. He has held research and teaching positions at the universities of Oxford and Birmingham, and at Sciences Po Paris. He was also Marie Curie Fellow at Yale University and Trinity College Dublin.
Research summary
Pierre Purseigle is a comparative social historian who works at the intersection of the history of war and of critical disaster studies. He is currently writing a book on the reconstruction of urban communities in Europe after the First World War. He is also developing a new research project on the global history of urban vulnerabilities, disasters, and resilience since the nineteenth century.
