SUMMARY:BrIAS Sustainable Robotics Seminar 6
DESCRIPTION:Speakers\n\n\nGuerric De Crombrughe – Nuketech\, Brussels\n\n\n\nAlexander Bahr – Hydromea\n\n\n\nJames Hill – REACH\n\n\n\nLudovic Dufau – Nimbl’bot\n\n\nDescription\nOver the past few months\, the growth prospects of the nuclear industry have dramatically increased. This renewed enthusiasm is notably driven by the pledge signed during COP28 to triple the global nuclear capacity by 2050. This also results in a dire need for high-end\, robust robotics solutions to reduce manpower requirements while improving workers safety. These have a direct impact on Sustainable Development Goals\, either directly (e.g. decent work\, SDG 8) or indirectly (e.g. clean energy\, SDG 7). The nuclear industry ends up acting like a catalyst for innovations relevant for other sectors where workers are exposed to potentially dangerous situations. In this seminar\, three innovative organisations will present their technology. The objective is to have a deeply technical discussion\, sharing as openly as possible both achievements and challenges. The expected audience is mostly robotic and nuclear experts\, both from academia and industry. \nSchedule\n\n\n\n\n\n\n14:00\nWelcome address by Prof. Emanuele Garone\, BrIAS programme director and Guerric de Crombrugghe\, Nuketech\n\n\n14:10\nRationales\, lessons learned\, and prospects of nuclear robotics by Philippe Loraux (EDF & Nuclear Valley)\n\n\n14:30\nHydromea – remote inspection and monitoring of submerged assets\n\n\n14:55\nREACH – remote extendable arm for characterisation and handling\n\n\n15:20\nShort break\n\n\n15:50\nNimbl’bot– flexible\, jointless robotic arm for flexible operations\n\n\n16:15\nLaborelec & IBASS – crawling robot for in-pipe inspection & metallurgy\n\n\n16:30\nDemos & discussion\n\n\n17:30\nEnd of day\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the teams link\, or in-person participation\, registration is required. Coffee and tea will be served. \n\n\n\nThis Seminar will also be livestreamed on our Youtube channel @BrIAStalks
