She is evaluating such processes for food waste valorization at the University of Alcal\u00e1 (Micro-separation Techniques group).<\/p><hr \/><h5><strong>Research summary<\/strong><\/h5><p>Mar\u00eda\u00b4s research in UAH has primarily focused on the biorefinery assessment of selected plant-based food byproducts in terms of chemical composition, bioactive profile, antioxidant capacity, and enzyme accessibility after different drying treatments. This type of studies is essential to develop technologies for a circular bioeconomy system, resulting in additional revenue for the food-processing sector while reducing its environmental
