Dr. Ankit Pramanik
Biografie
Ankit is a glaciologist, working on subglacial hydrology -biogeochemistry of Greenland ice sheet. He obtained his PhD from University of Oslo, Norway in Geophysics with a specialization in glaciology and performed research in interdisciplinary fields such as hydrology, biogeochemistry, oceanography. He uses/develops numerical models to assess the interplay among different sub-systems of cryosphere under the changing climate. He participated in several field expeditions in Arctic and Himalaya to conduct geophysical measurements for his modelling work.
Research summary
Ankit’s areas of research interest encompass glacier hydrology, climate change, sea level rise, biogeochemistry. He has expertise in subglacial hydrology modelling, where he explores the influence of hydrology on glacier dynamics, biogeochemistry, and sediment transport under warming climate. During his PhD, he worked on energy balance and hydrology of glaciers of Svalbard in the Arctic. After his PhD, he briefly worked on glaciers of Himalaya. He is currently developing a coupled model of subglacial hydrology- biogeochemistry for Greenland ice sheet.
