Willem Zuidema

Willem Zuidema obtained a PhD in Linguistics in Edinburgh (2005). Since 2004, he is a member of the Natural Language Processing group at the ILLC in Amsterdam. With his students, he has done pioneering work in deep learning for NLP (since 2012) and interpretability techniques for LSTM and Transformer-based Language Models (since 2015). His latest work focuses on (mechanistic) interpretability of speech models, "concept bottlenecks", and societal impact of AI.
