18 February, 2027 @ 12:00 - 14:00

Do the People Consider Democracies as More Reliable International Allies?

by Yasin Koç

Bio

Yasin Koc holds a PhD in social psychology from the University of Sussex and is Assistant Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Groningen. Recognised as a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science, he has also held visiting research positions at Princeton University and Université Paris Nanterre. His research focuses on marginalised identities and intergroup relations, with the aim of improving the well-being and social status of minoritised groups and fostering more equitable relations.
Using experimental, qualitative, and mixed methods, he examines how disadvantaged groups navigate unequal social systems and how advantaged groups can be mobilised to recognise inequality and support social change. He recently completed an FMSH-funded study on multiple marginalisation among older queer migrants from Turkey in France. He currently leads the NWO-funded project *Reimagining Intergroup Apologies*, which explores community-centred approaches to intergroup apologies and social cohesion in contexts of polarisation and historical conflict.
