Anyuta Wiazemsky Snauwaert is a Brussels-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice draws on their studies in law, fine arts, and sociology. Working across visual arts, in situ performance, theatre, and participatory art, they explore intimacy and the shifting boundaries between private and public, individual and collective. Their work examines how people create meaning and interact within social structures, while also investigating how personal experiences intersect with bureaucratic systems and legal frameworks.
Anyuta’s work has been presented across Belgium, the Netherlands, Russia, Portugal, the UK, and India, including at the Red Star Line Museum, Kaaitheater, De Brakke Grond, and Kunsttempel. Their practice encompasses installations, performances, participatory projects, and lectures. Since 2016, they have collaborated with Kim Snauwaert on *BETWEEN US*, a long-term research project examining the intersections of art, law, and social structures. Collaboration, generosity, empathy, and social engagement are central to their approach, using personal experience as a space for public and political negotiation.
This residency is possible through the artistic residency programme of OHME, supported by the Visual Arts Commission of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
