Political Masculinities in Europe – Public Panel
About the Event
How do ideas about “proper” masculine behavior in politics shape who speaks, who leads, and whose interests count in European democracies? This public roundtable in gathers members of the International Advisory Board of the project Political Masculinities in Europe—with panelists from Poland, Italy, Sweden, and the US/UK and expertise in socialization, interventions, social movements, violence, backlash, gender and sexuality —to discuss how political masculinities are constructed, reinforced, and contested across countries and political institutions. Aimed at academics, students, and policymakers, the panel will unpack how these often implicit norms sustain gendered political inequalities and consider what it would take to change them.
